MEET THE BOARD

Desiree Terriquez
President

Desiree Terriquez is serving as the 2019-2020 President of the Orange County Hispanic Youth Chamber of Commerce. She is completing her fifth and final year at UC Irvine, double majoring in International Studies and Political Science, and minoring in Civic and Community Engagement. Her involvement in OCHYCC stems from the strong impact this organization has had in her life since the very first event she attended. As the president, Desiree’s goal is to provide this same experience to as many youth as possible through resources, support, and mentorship. Desiree is very approachable, and is always looking for ways to partner with the community and find potential sponsors.  Desiree has experience in public speaking and willing to share the influence that OCHYCC could have on students like herself.


Guillermo Hernandez
Vice President

Guillermo Hernandez is serving as the 2019-2020 Vice-President of the Orange County Hispanic Youth Chamber of Commerce. As the Vice-President, Guillermo serves as a link for a diverse community of college students to the professional world. He is currently a Finance student at Cal State Fullerton and works as a portfolio manager for a Fixed Income Student fund that manages over half a million dollars. In addition, he is also involved as a board member for the Mihaylo Student Advisory board that helps bridge the gap between students and faculty at CSUF. He is studying to take his CFA Level 1 exam and work as an analyst within the credit or fixed income realm. As Guillermo continues to strive to attain his personal goals, he hopes to continue to have a presence in organizations such as these that work collectively to create a better community. 


Judit Castellanos
Secretary

Judit Castellanos is serving as the 2019-2020 Secretary of the Orange County Hispanic Youth Chamber of Commerce. Judit is currently a third-year undergraduate student at UC Irvine pursuing a B.S. in Public Health Sciences with a minor in Health Informatics. Judit works in a multi-disciplinary research lab at the Children’s Hospital of OC as a Co-Investigator on four ongoing clinical trials - specifically focusing on managing pain in pediatric cancer patients. Her love for medical research, the well-being of others, and her community is what motivates her to continue a career in clinical research by pursuing a Ph.D. As a first-generation, low-income Latina college student, Judit knows the struggles and wants to help others with similar backgrounds achieve their dreams. She plans to increase diversification among the OCHYCC membership, at the high school and college level, in order to develop teamwork efficiency, specifically among those in STEM fields.


Miriam Mendez
Treasurer

Miriam Mendez is serving as the 2019-2020 Treasurer of the Orange County Hispanic Youth Chamber of Commerce.Miriam is a first generation college student entering her fourth year as an undergraduate student at UC Irvine double majoring in Sociology and Political Science with a minor in Chicano Latino Studies. Her passion is advocating for immigrant rights and she hopes to become more involved with her community through volunteering. Her long term goal is to go to law school and continue to advocate for immigrant rights.


Cynthia Ramirez
Director of Marketing

Cynthia Ramirez is serving as one of the 2019-2020 Directors of Marketing for the Orange County Hispanic Youth Chamber of Commerce.Cynthia is a graduate student at USC pursuing a Master of Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs. She is the first ever grad student to be on the Youth Board. She is an alumna of the University of La Verne ('18) where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Latinx Studies. Cynthia has a demonstrated history of working in higher education, non-profits and Corporate America. Her work and leadership experience have been advocating for education equity and resource access for students in marginalized communities through cultural affairs and first-generation student services.


Melissa Del Castillo
Director of Community Relations

Melissa Del Castillo is serving as one of the 2019-2020 Directors of Community Relations for the Orange County Hispanic Youth Chamber of Commerce. Melissa is a third-year student at UC Irvine majoring in pharmaceutical sciences. Apart from the chamber, she also interns in a toxicology lab and works in chemistry outreach at UCI. Her goal for the chamber is to inspire other first-generation students like herself to thrive and reach their full potential.


Jose Del Castillo
Director of Community Relations

Jose Del Castillo is serving as one of the 2019-2020 Directors of Community Relations for the Orange County Hispanic Youth Chamber of Commerce. Jose is youngest member to serve on the Board of Directors. He is a first-year student attending UC Irvine majoring in Physics with the goal to work with NASA. With his role in the chamber, Jose plans to attempt to give back to the community through community service and providing volunteering opportunities for the members focusing on High School students.
